Countdown, Fireworks, Events, Parties, Hotels
Sydney, Australia, 31 December 2013, Midnight
Considered as one of the most iconic NYE fireworks anywhere in the world take place in Sydney, with the focus being the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Sydney is one of the major cities to greet the new year, hence the rest of the world turns its eyes to Sydney first of all.
You need to get there early to secure a decent spot for NYE 2014 in Sydney, and be aware that it's an alcohol free event so you won't be able to take any booze, although we found they didn't apply a scent test to this policy so should you decide to spice up, say, your 2 litre bottle of Coke then you should get away with it.
There will be an official live stream webcast of the New Years Eve 2014 in Sydney and midnight fireworks available for the first time in the event's history - click here.
Before and after the fireworks then the area around The Rocks is the place to be, although be aware the whole area will be absolutely rammed and specific bars will all be ticket-only (and the tickets for this night will not be cheap!) so make sure you plan well in advance, and allow plenty time to get where you're going, and to get served once you're in there!
The internationally-loved midnight fireworks event on Sydney Harbour brings in more than 1.5 million spectators and is watched by more than 1 billion viewers across the world. Celebrations start with Pre-Show Entertainment from 5pm and festivities get bigger with the not-to-be-missed 9pm Family and Midnight Fireworks Displays.
Book your seats early and hop aboard Sydney Showboats for the world’s most exciting New Year’s Eve celebration. Sydney Harbour is the most happening place in the world on the New Year’s Eve, and the celebration on the harbour is the most awaited, the most watched, the most televised and the most reported New Year’s Eve event in the world. Sydney Showboats is the best vantage point to view all of this action. To top it all, there is a lot of exciting entertainment on board. Reserve your seats at the earliest to make sure you are right at the centre of all the action!
The Harbour of Light Parade is an exciting visual spectacle for all to enjoy in the lead-up to our world-famous NYE13 fireworks displays. Imagination and creativity combine with the magic of rope lights to produce an amazing parade of illuminated vessels. In 2013 the Harbour of Light Parade will include up to 60 vessels comprising tall ships, the Sydney Heritage Fleet, Tribal Warrior Association boats and commercial charters. The vessels will navigate a course that stretches from Cockatoo Island in the west to Clark Island in the east, producing an enchanting and colourful display of rope lights.
